Event Description

Vehicle Incident in USA on Tuesday, 28 February, 2012 at 02:49 (02:49 AM) UTC.

Newark Liberty Airport has been shut down after a plane with hydraulic problems was forced to make an emergency landing. But officials say none of the roughly 70 people on board were injured. Authorities say the plane landed shortly before 7 p.m. Monday, not long after the pilot reported a landing gear malfunction. But further details on the problem and the aircraft were not immediately available. Newark Fire Department officials were dispatched to the scene, but found no smoke or fire conditions aboard the plane. A message left for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the airport, was not immediately returned.
