One person drowned and nine others went missing today as a boat ferrying 11 people capsized in the Gandak river at Baikunthpur in Bihar's Gopalganj district. "The boat sank when it lost control due to swirling wind in the river near Salempur village," District Magistrate Pankaj Kumar said. Dineshwar Mandal (40) - a resident of Salempur village - drowned and nine others went missing, he said. An unidentified person was rescued by the local people in an unconscious state, he said. Kumar said that he along with other officials were camping to supervise search and rescue operations. All of the 11 people were farm labourers of Salempur village and were going to the other side of the river to collect food, he said.
