As many as 60 people were hospitalised following a suspected gas leak at a chemical factory at Kalapet, near here,this morning. Official sources said those who inhaled the gas felt giddy and some of them had fainted. They were immediately rushed to the Government General Hospital and the Puducherry Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for treatment. Home Minister E Valsaraj, Welfare Minister M Kandasamy and PWD Minister Shahjahan rushed to the spot. Hospital sources said the victims were out of danger.
