CFA crews are currently battling out of control grass fire is affecting a significant part of the Bellarine this afternoon. Early reports indicate the fire is burning from Swan Bay Road in Mannerim, through to Murradoc Road in Drysdale. Motorists have been notifying the newsroom of the incident, saying smoke is visible through much of the area. Other small fire incidents have been called in for Beacon Point Road in Clifton Springs, Banks Road in Ocean Grove and the Bellarine Highway in Marcus Hill. Avoid the eastern part of the Bellarine as the newsroom gathers more information. CFA Media have confirmed that a large grass fire on the Bellarine Peninsula is now under control. An advice alert remains in place for Clifton Springs, Drysdale, Curlewis, Mannerim, Wallington and Marcus Hill, with 29 CFA vehicles on scene. A chopper is also in the area to assist fire fighters. Expect heavy smoke to remain in the region for some time, and avoid Portarlington Road for now.
