Five people died Thursday night when a plane crashed at Rohlsen Airport on St. Croix, officials with the Virgin Islands Port Authority, which manages the territory's airports, confirmed. Details were scant as of press time, according to authorities on St. Thomas and St. Croix. Virgin Islands Port Authority Director David Mapp said no one had survived the wreck of the private plane, which he said occurred about 8:30 p.m. "All of whoever was on board died," he said. The wreckage was total, Mapp said. "I couldn't tell you, from the mangled mess, the make, model, number, or type of plane," he said. Port Authority spokeswoman Monifa Brathwaite said officials weren't yet able to release the names of the dead.
