A power outage is affected around 40,000 customers Wednesday afternoon during rush hour. Fayetteville PWC said Duke Power experienced a fault which led to the outage. Fayetteville police posted officers at major intersections as traffic lights were left without power. If you encounter an intersection with traffic signals that are not operating, and an Officer is not directing traffic at that intersection, follow these guidelines. Power began coming back on around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday.
