Dozens of dead fish washed ashore at the Guana River Dam in South Ponte Vedra Beach Tuesday. Pictures posted to social media show the shore lined with decomposing fish. "It's overwhelming, you know, when you see so many fishes are dead," Soneang Padgett said. Padgett said she fishes at this spot daily and relies on what she catches to feed her family. "I don't like that because I'd rather eat those fish," Padgett said. Action News Jax reached out to a spokesperson for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission and was told they were not made aware if this specific fish kill yet. FWC said fish kills are common during summer months because fish have a hard time getting enough oxygen in warm water. The agency said it's unclear what caused the recent fish kill.
