Around 15 people have been hurt after a balcony collapsed at a house in Connecticut on Saturday night. A group of friends and family members were gathered at the home in Hartford for a party to celebrate the birth of two babies. Warm summer temperatures meant that most were outside on the porch when suddenly, the floor beneath their feet gave way and most of the guests fell through to the ground below, including some children and babies. Hartford police confirmed Saturday evening's collapse at the two-story home. The Hartford Courant reports that witnesses say as many as 20 people were on the porch when it buckled and gave way at around 9pm. Emergency crews then took several people to hospital including an infant. It's not known what conditions they are in although assistant police chief Rafael Medina said none of the people taken to Hartford Hospital suffered life-threatening injuries. There were a number head injuries and lacerations. Jeisnely Vazquez told the Courtant how she was at the party and about to step onto the porch when she saw the floor break away in front of her eyes. 'Before I stepped out, it started to fall and I went back,' she said.
