At least one person was killed in a crash Monday afternoon involving a bus and at least two other vehicles on Highway 58 near Kramer Junction, according to initial San Bernardino County Fire reports. The crash was reported around 12:30 p.m., according to Twitter posts by the fire department. At least nine ambulances and eight helicopters were called to transport the nearly two dozen hurt in the crash. Authorities said six people were seriously hurt and about 15 sustained moderate to minor injuries, officials said. One person died. The crash took place on Highway 58 about two miles east of Highway 395, fire officials said. The highway was closed in both directions. Kramer Junction is in the Mojave Desert about 30 miles west of Barstow. CHP Officer Brian Benson said it was unclear what caused the crash. He described the bus as a tour bus that seats about 30, but he declined to release the name of the company that owns it. He said there was no remarkable weather in the area at the time of the collision. San Bernardino County Fire spokesman Eric Sherwin said some of the victims of the crash had to be extricated from their vehicles. Photos of the crash on Twitter appear to show the bus largely intact, while at least one car appears crumpled.
