Vehicle Accident in South Africa on January 11 2017 02:57 PM (UTC).
Four children were killed and approximately 20 others injured when a bus and taxi collided on the Ingcebo Road in the Ntazuma area in KwaZulu-Natal. This has been confirmed by ER24, who, along with various other services arrived on the scene and found the taxi parked on the side of the road. One side of the taxi had been completely ripped open in the collision, Mediclinic spokesperson, Russel Meiring said in a statement released a short while ago. The bus was parked further up the road. Paramedics found four youngsters, believed to be primary school children, lying outside the taxi. Unfortunately, the children had already succumbed to their multiple, fatal injuries. Nothing could be done for them and they were declared dead on the scene, ER24 said. Up to 20 other patients were found on scene with injuries ranging from minor to critical. A number of these patients were children, believed to be on their way to school. Meiring said paramedics began treating the patients and providing the critically injured with numerous advanced life support interventions. The injured transported to various hospitals for urgent treatment. A medical helicopter was also called to the scene to airlift one of the critically injured to hospital. Details surrounding this incident are still under investigation by local authorities.
