Three people died and 8 others injured in 3-vehicle accident on I-80 Saturday morning near Atlantic. The Iowa State Patrol is still investigating the crashes that killed 3 people, including two youth on Saturday morning that closed I-80 near Atlantic. Reports state that a semi driven by 31-year-old Marcelas Engram of Savannah, Georgia was westbound on I-80 near Atlantic. It crossed the median and collided with a vehicle driven by 43-year-old Toby Steckler of Audubon that was heading east. Both vehicles entered the south ditch with the semi trailer still on the road blocking the east bound lanes. Another eastbound vehicle driven by 50-year-old Daniel Doggett of Gretna slammed into the rear of the semi. Fatalities included two youth, an 11-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy both of Audubon. The other fatality was 41-year-old Rodney Shane Sanborn of Gretna and all were pronounced dead by the State Medical Examiner. 8 others were injured including four youth. a 14-year-old from Gretna taken to UNMC, a 14-year-old from Bellevue taken to Chidren's Hospital in Omaha by Medivac Ambulance, a 10-year-old boy from Audubon taken to Cass County Memorial Hospital and a 14-year-old from Cedar Rapids taken to UNMC. Also suffering injuries was 47-yer-old Kim Doggett of Gretna, and 50 year-old Daniel Doggett of Gretna. Both were taken to Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic. Meanwhile, 43-year-old Toby Steckler and Pam Steckler, both of Audubon were taken to Cass County Memorial Hospital with injuries. The semi driver was not injured. The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Cass County Sheriff's office, Medivac Ambulance, Anita, Adair, and Exira Rescue units and Wiota Fire Department.
