Thirteen people were injured when a car collided with a New Jersey Transit bus Monday morning in Newark, city police confirmed. Two people in the car were seriously hurt, while 11 passengers on the bus were treated for minor injuries, police said. None of the injuries were life threatening, authorities said. According to police, a Honda was traveling westbound on West Market Street at about 5 a.m. when it apparently veered into the opposite lane and crashed into a bus that was headed east. It is unclear why the car drifted, police said. The bus had 29 passengers on board and was headed to Newark Penn Station, according to a NJ Transit spokeswoman. The No. 34 bus travels between Montclair and Newark. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
