Three persons were killed and 22 injured when a private bus rammed into a truck on the Pune-Bengaluru highway in Satara on Sunday, turning a college picnic into a tragedy. The accident occurred near Taswade toll booth in Satara district in Western Maharashtra. The luxury bus was carrying students from an Electronic and Telecommunication College in Shrigonda taluka, in Ahmednagar district. The students along with some college staff were returning from a picnic in Goa when a truck carrying sugarcane collided with the bus, ripping it in half and killing three persons instantly. One student and two college staff were among the deceased. Five students are said to be in a critical condition. The injured are undergoing treatment at a local hospital in Karad.
