Volcano Eruption in Japan on May 14 2018 12:37 PM (UTC).
Mount Shinmoedake in southern Kyushu erupted again at 2:44 p.m. on May 14, sending smoke and ash as high as 4,500 meters from the crater, the Japan Meteorological Agency's Fukuoka Regional Headquarters said. It was the first eruption of the volcano, which straddles Miyazaki and Kagoshima prefectures, since April 6. The JMA has maintained the alert level at 3, meaning people should stay away from the 1,421-meter mountain and remain cautious of falling large rocks within a 3-kilometer radius of the crater.
