A truck carrying nitric acid and hydrochloric acid started leaking in Milwaukie on Wednesday afternoon, prompting emergency responders to evacuate Precision Castparts and close off the nearby roadways. The corrosive acids leaked at about 1:10 p.m. from a broken pipe. There were no immediate reports of injuries. Precision Castparts evacuated the nearly 600 workers in the building as a safety precaution. The chemical leak was stopped less than an hour later. It was not known how much of the acids leaked. Johnson Creek Boulevard was closed between Southeast Stanley and Southeast 45th avenues while authorities handled the incident.
