HAZMAT in Canada on January 12 2016 04:29 AM (UTC).
A Hazmat team was called to a crash north of Swift Current on Monday afternoon after a tractor trailer hauling what is believed to be powder uranium rolled on Highway 4. No one was hurt in the rollover which happened around 12:30 p.m. on Highway 4, about 10 kilometres north of Swift Current. The RCMP told everyone within a 1.6 kilometre radius what happened, but decided an evacuation was unnecessary because there were no homes downwind from the rollover. As of 3 p.m., a HAZMAT team was heading to the crash. Members of Swift Current Rural RCMP and the Swift Current City Fire Department assisted in monitoring the crash site. Traffic in the area was being detoured around the crash for several hours.
