Fire crews are battling a machinery fire inside a mine at Costerfield in Central Victoria. A Country Fire Authority spokeswoman said firefighters were called to the mine on Mcnichols Lane about 3pm after a piece of machinery caught alight underground. "Everyone has been accounted for, we have 28 people who have been accounted for who are safe and well," she said. It is unknown if those workers have been freed from the mine or remain underground. CFS crews have managed to bring the fire under control but it is still burning.
