A huge mushroom cloud of fire and smoke erupted from what is believed to be an industrial building at a farm housing HGVs this afternoon. More than 40 firefighters are battling flames following the explosion in in Northowram, near Halifax, West Yorkshire. The blaze is in a building containing up to 25 lorries as well as diesel, acetylene and liquid petroleum gas. Police have said no one was injured and reports of smaller explosions after the first were caused by the fuel tanks of vehicles in the building. Dramatic images showing huge plumes of black smoke spreading across the countryside were shared on social media following the explosion at about 11.30 this morning. West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service has said it will be in attendance through the night and residents are being warned to close windows and doors.
